FAQ

What is PDF remediation?

PDF remediation is the process of making a PDF document accessible to people with disabilities, including screen reader users. This involves adding proper document structure, reading order, alt text for images, table headers, form field labels, and bookmarks to meet PDF/UA and WCAG standards.

What standards do you remediate to?

We remediate every document to meet PDF/UA (ISO 14289) and WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). These are the internationally recognized standards for accessible PDF documents.

What document types do you accept?

We accept PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and interactive forms. We handle everything from simple text documents to complex financial reports with tables, charts, and forms.

How long does remediation take?

Turnaround depends on document complexity and volume. We work with you to establish timelines that fit your needs. Expedited turnaround is available for time-sensitive projects.

What is DAaaS?

Document Accessibility as a Service (DAaaS) is our subscription model. You choose a monthly page allocation (Basic, Standard, or Premium), submit documents throughout the month, and your dedicated remediation team handles the rest. Unused pages roll over to the next month.

Can I borrow pages from future months?

Yes. If you exceed your monthly allocation, you can borrow from future months with no limit and no overage fees.

Do I need a consultation before subscribing?

No. You can subscribe directly or start with a consultation. We recommend a compliance assessment if you want to understand your document backlog before choosing a plan.

What do I receive back after remediation?

You receive your fully remediated document compliant with PDF/UA and WCAG, a detailed remediation report showing what was fixed, and a certificate of compliance.

What industries do you serve?

We serve organizations in finance and credit unions, insurance, education, and government across Canada, the United States, and Europe.

What accessibility regulations apply to my organization?

This depends on your jurisdiction and industry. Common regulations include AODA (Ontario), the Accessible Canada Act (federal), ADA Title II and III (United States), Section 508 (U.S. federal agencies), and the European Accessibility Act. We can help you understand which requirements apply during a compliance assessment.

How do I get started?
